Introducing the top treatment of 2022 - PRP or the Vampire Facial as it’s sometimes known. This treatment was first made famous by Kim Kardashian, and has remained in the spotlight ever since. Not only is it the secret to younger looking skin, it also offers a range of other benefits like hair rejuvenation and improving the appearance of burns and scars.

What are PRP injections?

The Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) treatment is a three-step process that involves drawing blood, processing it in a centrifuge to separate the red blood cells from the plasma ( is rich with platelets), and then injecting the plasma into the desired treatment area. Now can you see why it’s sometimes known as Dracula Therapy?

PRP treatments have been shown to plump skin, reduce wrinkles, improve acne scarring, and promote hair regrowth in treated areas. Once the plasma is injected back into the skin, it immediately increases blood flow to the area, promoting the body’s natural healing responses.

The best part about PRP injections is that there is minimal risk of allergic reactions because the treatment uses the clients own blood, so it’s a safe treatment for everybody.

What can PRP be used for?

PRP injections are used to rejuvenate the skin and reduce the appearance of wrinkles, scarring, and sagging skin in the following areas

  • Face
  • Stomach
  • Bum
  • Vaginal rejuvenation
  • Breasts
  • Burns
  • Scarring

PRP injections are also effective in encouraging hair rejuvenation where there is male pattern baldness or thinning hair. Again, the injected plasma increases blood flow to the area, stimulating the follicles and increasing hair growth for a full head of luscious locks.

How much do PRP injections cost?

The cost of PRP injections varies between clinics, however standard prices range between £200-£350. If larger areas are being treated, or you require more than one round of PRP injections then this price could be higher. During your pre-treatment consultation your aesthetician will tell you how much your PRP treatment will cost.

PRF - the second generation of PRP injections

The second generation of PRP injections is PRF or Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF). A revolutionary new treatment that gives even better results. PRF has a much higher concentration of platelets as well as fibrin and white blood cells, all of which are necessary for healing.

During a PRF treatment, the blood is spun at a lower speed, so that the layers of blood do not separate as finely as they do during PRP injections. This leaves some of the key stem cells and white blood cells to be injected back into the body during the treatment.

The full benefits of a PRP treatment are visible around six to eight weeks after the injections. However early results can be seen in as little as two weeks.

PRF vs Filler

PRF encourages the body's natural collagen and elastin production as well as stimulating blood flow in the treated areas. This gives long-lasting results similar to that of dermal fillers. In fact, PRF is often referred to as The Organic Facial Filler.

PRF and PRP treatments provide the same results as fillers, plumping and rejuvenating the skin while minimising wrinkles and boosting sagging skin. PRF injections also give the same long term benefits as hyaluronic acid fillers, increasing the skin’s natural collagen and elastin production for results that last from six to twelve months.

As PRF injections use the client’s own blood, there are no side effects or recovery times following the procedure. That’s why more people are choosing PRP and PRF over fillers.

Nytox™  Treatment

Following on from the success of the PRP and PRF treatments, Cosmetic Couture’s Maxine McCarthy developed the Nytox™ Vampire Facial treatment. The same PRP procedure is used during the Nytox treatment to extract the plasma from the blood, which is then strategically injected to reduce wrinkles and rejuvenate skin across the entire face.

Areas treated during the Nytox Vampire facial include

  • Lips
  • Nose
  • Mouth
  • Neck
  • Crows feet around the eyes
  • Thin ‘crepey’ eyelids

Not only has Maxine developed this new treatment, she has also pioneered the way for other non-medics in the industry. Estheticians can now train to deliver their own Nytox Vampire facial treatments with Cosmetic Couture - a qualification recognised by insurance companies like Cathedral.
