As the skin ages it loses its natural elasticity making it prone to wrinkles and sagginess. As fat and collagen deposits also begin to deplete, this adds to the effects of aging making your face appear sunken and hollow.

Sculptra is a wonderful alternative to invasive surgery. Acting as a natural collagen stimulant, it helps to rejuvenate the skin from the inside - giving you long-lasting, natural results.

What is Sculptra?

Sculptra is an injectable filler designed to restore facial volume lost to aging or illness. The active ingredient in Sculptra is poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) which works by stimulating the natural collagen production within the skin.

How does Sculptra work?

Sculptra is injected into the skin where it slowly releases poly-L-lactic acid into the tissue, stimulating the natural production of collagen. It is this fresh collagen that rejuvenates and restores volume to the skin, naturally reversing the signs of aging.

When will I see results?

Sculptra is not a traditional filler and the results take a little longer to see - although they are worth waiting for!

You’ll notice the tone and texture of your skin start to improve within a couple of weeks after your treatment. However the full effects can be seen between four and nine months after the treatment.

How many Sculptra treatments will I need?

During your consultation, your aesthetician will discuss your desired results and how many treatments you are likely to need. Most clients have an average of 3 Sculptra treatments or up to 6 if the loss of volume is severe.

How long do the results of Sculptra last?

The results of Sculptra can last up to two years - much longer than other dermal treatments. In some cases they can even last up to five years depending on your lifestyle and the natural aging process of your skin.

What areas can be treated with Sculptra?

As Sculptra is a collagen stimulator, it can be used in a variety of areas to help repair the underlying structure of the skin. Some of the most effective uses for Sculptra are

  • To treat fine lines and wrinkles on the face
  • To replace lost volume in areas such as the cheeks and buccal hollows
  • Around the nose and mouth to rejuvenate skin
  • Around the chin
  • Under the eyes

Is Sculptra Painful?

While having your Sculptra treatment you might feel mild pain and a pinching sensation. Sculptra is mixed with lidocaine and a topical anesthetic can be applied for additional pain relief. There may be some bruising and swelling afterwards but this can be managed with over-the-counter painkillers.

What should I do after my Sculptra treatment?

Aftercare advice for Sculptra treatments includes

  • Use ice packs on the treated areas for up to 5 minutes a few times per day
  • Avoid strenuous exercise and alcohol for at least 24 hours
  • Although you can wear makeup, keep in mind that treated areas may be red and swollen for for first 2-7 days
  • Avoid facial massages and other facial treatments for 2 weeks after your procedure
  • Massage the treated area for 5 minutes, 5 times per day for the following 5 days after the treatment

How much does a Sculptra treatment cost?

The price of Sculptra varies between providers but treatments typically start from around £350 per vial. The amount of vials you will need for your desired look will be discussed with you before your treatment.
