The Russian Lip is a lip filler technique originating in Russia. Inspired by the lip shape of Russian dolls, it’s designed to accentuate the cupid’s bow area of the lips by adding volume to just the middle of the lips.

If you’re ready to try this must-have heart-shaped look here’s everything you need to know before your treatment.

How does the Russian Lip work?

During the Russian lip filler treatment, your aesthetician will inject small amounts of hyaluronic acid filler into your lips focusing on the centres. In traditional lip filler treatments, the filler is injected horizontally, however the russian lip technique delivers the filler vertically using a smaller needle for precision.

What type of filler is used?

Russian Lip treatments are done using hyaluronic acid fillers. The hyaluronic acid (HA) attracts water and can hold up to 1000 times its own weight in water. This helps to nourish and rejuvenate your lips from the inside while providing a great plumping effect.

Brand names include Juvederm, Secret Rose, Restylane, and Parlane to name a few.

Is the Russian Lip Treatment painful?

Like all lip filler treatments, it is fast and easy with minimal discomfort. You may feel a slight pinching sensation and some soreness afterwards but these effects can be treated with ice packs and over-the-counter painkillers.

How long does it take to recover?

Downtime is minimal, although because of the nature of the treatment it can result in slightly more bruising than other lip filler treatments. These side effects should settle down within days and cause very minimal discomfort.

How long do Russian Lip fillers last?

Russian Lip treatments use the same products as other lip filler treatments, so you can expect the results to last just as long. Typically, results last between six and twelve months, with top-up treatments available inbetween.

How much do Russian Lip fillers cost?

In the UK, Russian lip fillers cost anywhere from £200 to £2000 depending on how many treatments you require. The average cost is around £300 with regular top-ups each 6-12 months.
